FAQ

Where is Mass Mayhem?
We are located at the Blandford Ski Area, 41 Nye Brook Road, Blandford, MA 01008

How are the heats structured?
The heats will begin at 9AM and continue for every 15 minutes. Each heat will be capped at 75 runners to ensure there are minimal backups at the obstacles. We suggest that competitive runners sign up for the earlier heats so to avoid being caught up in any traffic from earlier heats.

What do I need for race day check-in?
You will need to bring a valid government issued ID to the race check in. This is required to insure the integrity of the timing of the race and for confirmation of those that are of legal drinking age.

What age do I have to be to participate?
Runners must be at least 13 years of age. Any runner under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the race.

What do runners get?
Each runner will be awarded with a Mass Mayhem t-shirt, a complimentary beer (for those of legal drinking age), a finisher medal, and any free gear that our sponsors are giving away.

When should I show up?
We recommend showing up at least 1 hour prior to your heat to give you ample time to check in and pick up your bib, stretch, and warm up.

Can I switch heats?
One of the best aspects of running Mass Mayhem is sharing the experience with your friends. We will make every effort to accommodate all requests. Many heats will sell out and once a heat sells out unfortunately we won’t be able to switch any additional runners into the heat.

Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?
No, all sales are final. We will allow you to transfer your registration to someone else. Please contact us via email for any requests.

Is there a pre race packet pick up?
Most likely yes. The logistics of any pre race packet pickup will be announced as we approach race day. Participants will be notified by email of the location and time. We suggest taking advantage of picking up your packet early as it will allow you to avoid any lines prior to your heat and focus your mind on completing the course.

Where can I park?
There will be a charge of $10 for every vehicle that parks at the course. 100% of the proceeds from parking will go to benefit the Faustman Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. We love to donate this money directly to Faustman Lab but we also suggest that runners take full advantage of carpooling.

Is there a fee for spectators?
There is no fee for spectators at Mass Mayhem and all are welcomed to the after party! Spectators can roam the course freely and will have access to a ski lift to get a bird’s-eye view of parts of the course and will take you the top of the mountain!

Will I be able to check my belongings?
Yes there will be a bag check for your convenience but we do encourage you to leave any valuables locked safely inside your vehicle. Parking will be on site for your easy access to and from the course!

Will the race be timed?
All participants will receive an electronic chip in their race packet to time their heat. For accurate timing it is imperative that all runners start in the heat that they have registered for. Please see the instructions in the race packet for accurate timing.

What if I am injured?
We will have an ambulance and paramedics on site to assist any runners that may become injured during the run. We will also have a first aid tent that will be clearly marked should anyone need assistance.

What if I don’t want to do an obstacle?
We all do these events for “the love of the game”. If you aren’t feeling the love on a particular obstacle feel free to go around.

Will showers be available?
You won’t find luxurious heated showers at our event but we will be happy to provide you with a cold water hose down.  If you want to look like an obstacle pro we suggest bringing your own gallon of water to wash yourself down with.

Can I volunteer at the race?
If it weren’t for many of the amazing volunteers that we have enlisted then our events would never be possible. Volunteers are truly the glue that holds it all together. Volunteers will be rewarded with a complimentary Mass Mayhem t-shirt, a free meal, and free entry into a future Mass Mayhem event of their choice. Click the “get involved” tab on the website for more information.
